Re: DnD Insider

Anyone Signed up yet? I did this morning and it looks like it could have some nice features to it. Pretty much everything is still "coming soon" right now though. Signed up ages ago. They actually created a lot of ill-will by not having much available at the launch of 4th Edition, but anyone with a...

I still feel the fighter is a little weak right now of course any character that rolls that poorly would be, but I think every party was able to contribute a great deal to the fight. The pre-gen fighter actually has about the same chance to hit as the rogue or paladin does (+6 as opposed to +7 I th...

i read those page pretty carefully but it never specifcially stated i could not take a full level in those classes, maby it left that ambigous on purpose so it would be up to the DM? It's not ambiguous at all. Read the section about leveling up your character and you will find that there is not an ...

I didn't get the dungeon master's guide so i still have a question on multi classing. Can you take a full level in another class or are those multi classing feats the only way to "dip a toe in" the other classes? The 3.0/3.5 "toe dip" attracted too many goddamn piranha. It's gone. To multiclass now...

ok Now as far as rogues and marks go Marks feel arbitrary and fall in with my thoughts on tanks, they add a weird thing to be tracked and as of yet dont seem to have any real impact on the game. This is probably because, up to this point, the two players with Defender characters in our game are not...

The hardback book will be available August of 2009. 4th Edition will hit the shelves long before Pathfinder is ready to go. As I said in another thread, if you think 3rd Edition works great, you'll probably like Pathfinder. My impression of it was that, rather than fix the underlying problems with 3...

I'm more interested in 4th Edition myself, but I did download the first Pathfinder RPG book and give it a once-over. My initial impression was not good. If you are one of those folks who thinks 3rd Edition is fine and not in need of any real changes, you'll probably like it. I happen to think the un...

First off, welcome to Athens! I imagine you've already seen it, but you might take a look at this thread: http://www.athensgamersunite.com/viewtopic.php?t=748 for a game starting up, unless you're just not interested in D&D. In addition, I'd suggest you check out both of the game stores in town, Tyc...

So instead of something like the complete series they just issue one PHB a year with a ton of content? One book instead of twelve? If done that way settings should see a lot more support. I for one do hope they continue to support the FR. Its still got a pretty loyal core fanbase. I was never a FR ...

To answer my own question, WOTC employees posting on the 4th Ed. forums have confirmed that 4th Ed. will be part of the OGL and there will be a 4th Ed. SRD. That makes me happy, at least.

So, in that same vein, what about the OGL? Any news?

The "saga" edition of Star Wars looked to me to be a complete waste, as it seemed to be just the last edition with a chunk of content removed for 'simplicity'. I have to disagree. It's a fairly complete overhaul and I think it's a substantial improvement. We're playing ti right now and so far I lik...

WOTC exists to make money. Complaining that they are doing stuff to make money is nonsensical. If WOTC stops making money, they'll go the way of TSR, and someone else will end up owning D&D. I wasn't bemoaning them making money, but how they choose to make it. They way they're doing it now is alien...

D&D, WoD, and HERO (don't know anything about GURPS) have gone through the rapid first few edition release schedule, then all of them slowed down. This is true, but the same argument could be made with regards to D&D, which underwent quite a few revisions (not really new editions, but lots and lots...
