Ghost in the Shell Game Looking for Players (M&M)

Post by thirdtruck » Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:55 am

Hey folks!

I'm looking to start a local game of Mutants & Masterminds set in the Ghost in the Shell anime and manga. More complete details are available online and summarized below: If you're interested in playing, please post your availability here. If you have any comments or critiques for the conversion, don't hesitate to post them here as well. Thanks!

Preliminary Hacking System

Copied from the wiki. See the wiki for the most current version.

The Process of Hacking

The process of cybernetic communication and hacking in the world of Ghost in the Shell resembles telepathy closely enough that powers listed as Mental in Mutants & Masterminds serve in the place of cybernetic-specific powers.

The Mind Reading and Telepathy Powers serve as the primary means of attack. The Mental Grapple Action serves as the primary means of infiltration.

Damage and Fatigue Conditions

Unlike normal Mutants & Masterminds, this setting tracks digital damage and fatigue conditions separately from physical harm.

A successful Mental Grapple, however, can deal both kinds of damage:
  • It inflicts physical damage and fatigue by overriding safety protocols and overloading systems with false external input or by cutting off the target's e-brain from the rest of their body.

Digital damage and fatigue represents harm inflicted upon the software or the bypassing of security layers.

Rendering a character digitally unconscious or disabled has no direct effect on their physical condition. However, several powers (like Mind Switch) now have such conditions as prerequisites.

A character can only inflict one kind of damage with each attempt and must choose before rolling.
