AT-43 Game Info and Cool Links

I just bought into this pre-painted minis game and think it is great. The game was released last year, but suffered from production problems. Fantasy Flight Games has taken over distribution for the USA and has worked out most of the kinks.

Rackham, the company that produces this great game, has also re-released its fantasy Confrontation minis game using the same game engine as AT-43. What is cool is that most of the metal figs from the older game are playable in the new game. Confrontation is prepainted as well.

What are its strengths?
  • Quick gameplay and easy rules

    Cool minis

    Surprising tactical depth

Take mini out of box, place on table, play...
Right now, none of our FLGS are currently stocking the game, though Jon has ordered some for me and some Karman minis to try out for himself.

Anyway, I think it is a great game and was wondering if anyone else was interested?

Red Blok

Post by steveyray30606 » Thu Jan 17, 2008 1:17 pm

I just ordered some Red Blok commandos and a collosus unit. I have no idea what they are for, I'm probably going to have to re-order to get the units I need. I'm guessing my minis will be in next week. The intro rules are simple but the regular rules are just as about as advanced as 40k? Well, count me in.

Jon are you planning on carrying this on a regular basis if you have enough interest generated. Also Knight of Roses do you carry these minis at tyche's? I wouldn't mind giving it a try.

it looks to be interesting..the only problem i have is well....limited army choices. First off..i can see that they are pre painted, and they look nice, and if you like painting..nothing says you can't repaint them if you wish. However...the game has 4 factions. Thats it. Its set in a future..and aliens exist..so why in the world give us just 4 factions...and 2 of them being human.

Thats my only real gripe..cause after awhile...you will get bored fighting the same opponents. But they do seem to mention that the game is focused on strategy, and if its similar to the way warmachine played...in its infancy..that game was killing on strategy over units. I really would be interested in playing one of these armies...just can't decide which. I will have to focus on it..and i look forward to not having to paint them(tho i might do something to make my minis a little different from the norm).

So you can count me in on a demo. WIll you be up there this saturday? I would love to test run a game if possible...i plan to stop by, tho not necessarily for play, but so ic an get out of the house and get some painting in. A demo game would be awesome so i can get a feel for it before i order stuff.

Each Faction has a sub-faction allowing you to differentiate a little more. And the big advantage with having only 4 factions is they can release more stuff for those and update them all at once. GW still hasn't updated Dark Eldar, and we are already talking about 5th ed. :? Most games are going to only include smaller groups of models, I just pointed out a 2,000 Red block that only had 5 units, which means some one else playing redblok could easily play an entirely different group. Oh and space monkeys in motherf@#$($# power armor...priceless.

sorry for a double reply. But what armies are already being used. I am having a hard time narrowing down the armies that i like. I like the mechs of the undead guys...but not so much the troops. THe idea of a soviet block type army sounds good..but not sure..the army isn't screaming at me. THe UNA seems a bit intreging..but i just don't like the look of the mechs much. THe karmans looks sweet..but i don't want to get them if everyone is doing them too. But something about giant monkeys causing havok seems awesome.

First, of all, remember the game is about a year old -- and it has only had decent distribution for about three months. So Just isn't going to have anywhere near the choices of armies that 40k, etc. have. The word on the forums is that the game was planned with 12 factions. I don't think we will see a new faction for months. They have not even finished delivering all the minis from the UNA source book -- the first faction book.

Each of the four factions (UNA, Karman, Therian, Red Block) has three sub-factions -- giving each multiple army lists to build from.

So, far, I have limited amounts of UNA and Therians, ~700 pts worth. I will keep these for now, but may commit to one or the other. (I've only played ~4 games ;) )

Jon's two units of Karmans are worth around 900 points.

No one else has bought anything yet, though some folks from my gaming group have talked about UNA and Red Blok.

So, I would buy what you think you'd like and not worry about it overmuch. Follow links from my inital post to get to the English lang boards and ask folks there. They have been very cordial to me.

I will try to get down for a few hours this weekend. If/When, I will post on the board.

I think I may also start white stars, it seems everyone else is leaning toward those dirty reds and/or apes.

I will be down at CCCG from ~3:30 - 6PM this Saturday. I am no rules maven, having only played 4 times, and not having a full army myself. But, I do my best to show off the game pieces and hopefully some quick demos.

We certainly can if there is interest. It looks like a fantastic game.
