Fantasy Tournament - July 11

Post by HurricaneGirl » Mon Jun 15, 2009 9:28 am

How many people would play if I ran a Fantasy Tourney on July?

I saw a couple in the other thread, but who else would be interested?

I could make that. The 10th would be a Friday though. I think you mean the 11th.

If I can convince myself to stomach so many square bases, I'd be willing to help out.

Ok the 11th looks good so far.

How many points? I know that 1000/1250 is a little light for Fantasy, so do we want to do something around the 2000 point mark? With my extra tabletops we could support 8, maybe 10 players in the store and go with the 4 x 6 tables.

2000 is good for me, but the games would probably last a while.

so why not shoot for 1500 points for fantasy. That is a good number, as it allows a bit bigger choice of unit selections than at a 1000 points or 1250, but also keeps the all powerful lords out of play and also keeps rares limited to one. It also allows some flexibility and keeps it fast enough for a a tournament setting with smaller tables and shorter hours aloted.
Also you could keep a similar time frame to what the tournament was at sunday. Basically 2 hours to do the setup(15 min setups) and games(1.45 hours for game). To do a 2k size army would make rounds 2.5 hours or longer for a tournament. At least that was how most fantasy RTTs back in the day were for that points lvl.

As for the tourney..i would be interested but will simply have to pass on the fantasy side. One i need to finish getting units for my army and get it all painted, but also because thats my wifes bday and well...she would be really really angry if i opted to game on a day i should be celebrating her.
Lunar Drakes(marines): 2/4/0
Total Points Painted: about 1500 of 6500

Tau, Elsy'eir sept: 0/0/0
Total Points Painted: 350 of 1500

Clan Sarz-Skaven: 0/0/0
Total Points Painted: 0 of 3k

I'll make it.

As for points, I'm going to have to recommend 1500 points as well. It sounds like a lot of points compared to a 40K game, but it typically represents only about 7-8 actual units moving about the board. [/i]

I am also in favor of 1500 pts if that is alright with everyone. That is also a feasible goal for me to get finished painted between now and then.

I think that 1500 sounds about right too. Games can be done in 2 hours and it's still a good solid game.

Sorry, but I will have to bow out on this one. July is a rough month.

so, can we get a list up to see how many are coming? It also sounds like 1500 points has been decided.
